Item #7
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF MAY 4, 2004
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS
FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER 8
SUBJECT: APPROVED AMENDMENT TO THE ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN
CONTRACT OF PURKISS ROSE -RSI FOR THE BIG LEAGUE
DREAMS SPORT PARKS PROJECT IN THE AMOUNT OF $28,000
AND AMEND SECTION 3.1.2 OF THE CONTRACT AGREEMENT
EXTENDING THE COMPLETION DATE TO JUNE 30, 2004.
DATE: MARCH 8, 2004
On May 7, 2002, the City Council authorized the award of Architectural Design Contract of Big
League Dreams Sport Parks Project to Purkiss Rose -RSI (Architect) in the amount of $381,325.
This amount was based on Purkiss Rose -RSI proposal dated April 17, 2002. Included in that
proposal was an optional item, for preparation of architectural plans and construction documents for
multi-purpose Sport Pavilion Structure, in the amount of $22,800. City chose to delay the award of
the design for the multi-purpose pavilion until after the site was acquired.
ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION:
The inclusion of the multi-purpose sport pavilion structure will significantly enhance the status of
the project as a prime sports park within the City. The proposed multi-purpose pavilion is a perfect
venue for various public and private function, gathering and sport events.
The fee for design of the multi-purpose pavilion is $28,000, which is $5,200 higher than the
original proposal of $22,800. The increase in cost is due to change in the site of the Sports Park
Project to Cooley Ranch Area, resulting in a modified (non standard) multi-purpose pavilion
structure.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
There is no environmental impact generated by this action.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST:
Exact Business Name: Purkiss Rose -RSI
President or equal: Charlene Rose
Contact or representative: Steven N. Lang
