CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF May 4, 2004
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS
FROM: AMER JAHKER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER
Item #15
SUBJECT: CORRECTION OF STREET NAME FROM HEALING WATERS DRIVE
TO LARCH AVENUE
DATE: APRIL 21. 2004
BACKGROUND:
The minutes of the September 19, 1989 City Council Meeting reflect that Council authorized the
changing of the name of Larch Avenue to Healing Waters Drive. The street name signs have
been replaced to reflect the change in name to Healing Waters Drive. This action was for the
benefit of the Healing Waters Church, which no longer exists at that location. San Bernardino
County records show the street same as Larch Avenue, causing confusion.
ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION:
Section 5026 of the State of California Streets and Highways Code requires a resolution of the
City Council and notice provided to the Clerk of the County Board of Supervisors and the County
Surveyor to change the name of a street, none of the those requirements have been completed.
Therefore the action was not valid and the correct name of the street remains Larch Avenue.
Staff will contact all affected property owners and the name street signs will be changed after 60
days from the dated of approval of the resolution. All affected agencies will be informed of the
correction of the name.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The costs to replace the street name signs are a normal function of the Street Division of the
Public Services Department. The estimated cost to replace three street names signs is $150.00.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST: Gift Disclosure Requirements)
Not Applicable.
Staff recommends Council authorize removal of Healing Waters Drive street name signs and
Larch Avenue street name signs be re -installed 60 days after the residents have been notified by
Public Services staff.
Attachments: Resolution
Report prepared by Brian Baden, Engineering Technician II
REVIEW TEAM ONLY
CityAttorney:
k
City Manager:
7/10/03 City Clerk's Office Cb
Finance Director.
OTHER:
