Hugh Margesson, Early Childhood Education Director <br />SUBJECT: Approve and Accept School Age Resource Grant for <br />Colton Early Childhood Education Latchkey Program <br />DATE: June 3, 2004 <br />Item #9 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />For the past seventeen years Early Childhood Education has provided latchkey services for <br />school-age children (5-12 years of age). Periodically, the state makes Child Care and <br />Development funds available in the form of grants for equipment/materials. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />For fiscal year 2003/04, the School Age Resource Grant in the amount of $3,552 will provide <br />funds for the refurbishing and replacing of worn equipment/materials at the City's four Early <br />Childhood Education Latchkey Centers, to meet licensing standards. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />There is no general fund impact. The funds should be placed into revenue account # 206-5769, <br />and increase the appropriation in expenditure account # 206-7200-7202-2304 by the grant <br />amount of $3,552. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that City Council accept and approve the FY 2003 — 04 State School Age <br />Resource Grant and Resolution. <br />Attachment <br />Resolution <br />Y <br />City Attorney: <br />City Manager: <br />r <br />Finance Director: dt a Lief <br />OTHER: <br />
