1 5 <br />1 Whereas, Prop. 68 denies cities and counties the right to use. funds where local <br />2 governments determine they are most nee ed; and <br />3 <br />Whereas, Prop.68 funding only provides "exclusively" for "additional" personnel in <br />4 <br />local police, sheriff and fire departments and cannot be used for any other purposes such <br />s <br />6 as equipment, support, training, supervision, and other necessary expenditures required to <br />support new personnel; and <br />7 <br />s <br />Whereas, to be eligible for any new funds generated by the Prop. ,68, cities and <br />9 counties must use existing budget dollars to establish a baseline or maintenance of effort <br />10 expenditure for child protective services, sheriffs, police officers and firefighters -which <br />11 could worsen local budget problems. <br />12 NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON' DOES <br />13 HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br />I <br />14 The City of Colton does hereby (OPPOSE Proposition No. 68 The Gaming <br />15 <br />Revenue Act of 2004. <br />16 <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 5th da <br />17 y of October 2004. <br />18 <br />19 DEIRDRE H.
