The approximate length of the proposed project is 3.5 miles starting from Valley
Boulevard in Colton moving north along 9t' Street and toward west on "G" Street connecting to
abandoned Union Pacific Railroad corridor on the west side of Colton Avenue extending
northeasterly to the City limits and Inland Center Drive in City of San Bernardino. The bikeway
travels along the Inland Center Drive over the I-215 interchange and continues northeasterly
terminating at "G" Street in City of San Bernardino.
The project scope of work includes a 8 feet wide bicycle path, new traffic signal on one
intersection, lighting, and economical landscape treatment and irrigation system. The City has an
existing lease agreement to use the railroad property for hike and bike -trail purposes with Union
Pacific Railroad Company for a period of 20 years expiring on December 31, 2023.
ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION:
The project has total funding of $1,431,000 with the following breakdown: $719,000 — TEA -21
Funds, $432,000 — CMAQ Funds, $25,000 — City of San Bernardino and $255,000 — City Share
coming from Measure I and RDA Funds. The project will be beneficial to the City since it will
enhance quality of life of the surrounding community, and greatly improve the aesthetic and
economic value of Colton Avenue corridor.
City of Colton will. be the lead agency for the project as provided in the Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) attached as Exhibit A. The City of San Bernardino approved the agreement
on September 20, 2004.
