Item #17 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE COLTON UTILITY AUTHORITY MEETING OF OCTOBER 19, 2004 <br />TO: HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND UTILITY AUTHORITY MEMBERS <br />FROM: ERIC R. FRASER, DIRECTOR OF WATER & WASTEWATER OPERATIONS <br />SUBJECT: AMEND THE EXISTING CONTRACT WITH SOUTH WEST PUMP & DRILLING, INC. IN <br />AN AMOUNT NOT -TO -EXCEED $14,000. <br />DATE: OCTOBER 6, 2004 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Well Plant No. 26 is located at Walnut Well Field in San Bernardino and provides forty percent (40%) of the <br />water to the Western Zone. Over the weekend of June 19, 2004, Well Plant No. 26 unexpectedly stopped <br />pumping water. Water Department staff consulted with the City Manager regarding the situation. In <br />accordance with the City's Purchasing Policy 3.08.020 (f), the City Manager declared that an emergency <br />condition existed and that immediate action was necessary to insure that wholesome and sufficient supply <br />pf potable water is maintained throughout the City. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />On July 6, 2004, the CUA awarded South West Pump and Drilling, Inc., the contract in an amount not -to - <br />exceed $50,000, which was estimated at that time when Well No. 26 shut down.
