FRASER, DIRECTOR OF WATER & WASTEWATER OPERATIONS <br />SUBJECT: AWARD OF BID TO FURNISH AND INSTALL PUMPING EQUIPMENT FOR <br />WELL NO. 21 TO BAKERSFIELD WELL AND PUMP IN AN AMOUNT NOT- <br />TO-EXCEED $58,403 <br />DATE: AUGUST 30, 2004 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Well Plant No. 21 is one of the City's largest water-producing welis. On April 14, 2004, the City hired Layne <br />Christensen to inspect and videotape Well Nos. 19 and 21. The videotape showed calcium buildup on <br />most of the perForations and on the well casings. On June 7, 2004, the City hired South West Pump and <br />Drilling, Inc., for the Rehabilitation of Well Plant Nos. 19 and 21. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Based on the Well Rehabilitation, City Staff and the Engineering Consultant were able to develop <br />specifications for a new pump bowl assembly, column and shaft for Well No. 21. In order to meet the <br />water demand9 the Water Departrnent solicited an Informal bid for Equipping of Well No. 21.
