ITEM #15 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF August 16, 2005 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members <br />FROM: Bill Smith — Community Services Director <br />SUBJECT: Approval of Use of Fleming Park on Saturday, August 27, 2005, for Use <br />by the Community Services Department to Host a Teen "Battle of the <br />Bands" Event <br />DATE: August 10, 2005 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Community Services Department is requesting the use of Fleming Park to host a Teen "Battle <br />of the Bands" Event on Saturday, August 27, 2005. The event is scheduled to proceed from 1:00 <br />p.m. to 11:30 p.m., including set-up and clean-up time. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />This exciting event will provide the opportunity for our community teens to showcase their talent at <br />a musical band competition event. Similar events are held in surrounding communities, and are <br />very successful. The program portion of the event will begin at 5:00 p.m., and end at 10:00 p.m. <br />Attendance for the event is estimated at a maximum of 400 people, including adults and teens. A <br />copy of the facility reservation application has been included, as well as promotional material for <br />the event. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Event is budgeted from the general fund, account 100-6200-6214-2301. The total estimated cost <br />for this event is $1500. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST: <br />Colton Community Services Department <br />Director: Bill Smith <br />Contact: Deb Farrar — Community Services Supervisor <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends the approval of the use of Fleming Park on Saturday, August 27, 2005, for use <br />by the Community Services Department to host a Teen "Battle of the Bands" event.
