CITY OF COLTON ITEM #16 <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF July 5, 2005 <br />TO: <br />Honorable Mayor and City Council Members <br />FROM: <br />Kenneth Rulon, Chief of Police <br />SUBJECT: <br />Increase 2004/05 Police Department Budget by $15,143.79 resulting <br />from Interest Earnings from CLEEP Grant. <br />DATE: <br />January 4, 2005 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The State of California Department of Justice provides funds for the California Law <br />Enforcement Equipment Program (CLEEP) High Technology Grant. There are interest <br />earnings from the CLEEP grant, totaling $15,143. <br />DISCUSSION/ ANALYSIS: <br />The Police Department is requesting an increase in the 2004/05 budget by $15,143, to utilize <br />these funds for equipment purchases outlined in the CLEEP grant. These funds are a result of <br />interest earnings in prior years from the grant which provided up -front funding. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The revenue received in prior years are reflected in the General Fund reserves and an <br />appropriation increase of $15,143 to account number 100-6070-6071-4930 is needed at this time <br />in order to purchase equipment as authorized by the CLEEP grant. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />Not Applicable <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />Not Applicable <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST - Gift Disclosure Requirements: <br />Not Applicable <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing an increase to the <br />2004/05 budget in account 100-6070-6071-4930 by $15,143. <br />REVIEW TEAM ONLY <br />City Attorney: <br />City Manager: ` <br />Finance Director: <br />old 01:4 <br />
