FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The cost of establishing the Preferential Parking Program is estimated to be:
Setup and Districts Mapping $ 2,000.00
Enforcement (first year) $3,000-00
Total Cost $ 5,000.00
The fiscal year 2005-06 budget approved by the City Council on June 22, 2005 did not include this
new program. Staff will make every attempt to cover this cost within the existing budget, however
if a budget shortfall prevails resulting from this program, a budget adjustment will be requested at
mid -year. Second and future years' costs are estimated at $ $ 4,000.00 per year. It is expected
that revenue generated from parking citations will offset the costs of the second and future years.
The above estimated cost is in anticipation that the areas adjacent to San Bernardino Valley
College petition to become Preferential Parking areas. The actual cost will vary according to the
number of areas selected to be included in this program, however, similar cost ratios and
projected revenue from parking citations can be anticipated.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
No environmental impact from adoption of the proposed ordinance is anticipated.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST — Gift Disclosure Requirements
Not applicable.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the proposed Ordinance to establish preferential
parking areas within the City.
Attachment: Proposed ordinance
Prepared by: Police Department
REVIEW TEAM ANLY
City Att+orney:, N4 PEI N
2
Director:
r
