Item #15
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF June 7. 2005
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members
FROM: Bill Smith, Community Services Directo/r
SUBJECT: Request Approval for Use of Fleming Park for Families of Incarcerated
Loved Ones, Inc. (FILO), on Saturday, July 16, 2005, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.
DATE: May 24, 2005
BACKGROUND:
Families of Incarcerated Loved Ones, Inc. has submitted a request to use Fleming Park and its
bandshell for a candlelight vigil on Saturday, July 16, 2005. The event is scheduled to proceed
from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., including set-up and clean-up.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
Fleming Park should provide an excellent venue to host such an event, and has successfully
hosted such events previously. Expected attendance is estimated at approximately 195 people,
including adults, teens and children. A facility reservation application has been submitted by the
group, as well as supplemental material about the organization, and a copy of each has been
attached.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The City will provide standard staff support to prepare the facility for the event. The applicant will
be charged the standard, resident facility reservation fee of $25 for the event.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST:
Families of Incarcerated Loved Ones, Inc.
Contact: Barbara Ellis, (909) 874-1863
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that City Council approve the reservation request from Families of Incarcerated
Loved Ones, Inc., for their candlelight vigil, to be held at Fleming Park on Saturday, July 16, 2005.
Staff also recommends that this approval be contingent upon the group providing liability
insurance and a cleaning deposit to protect the City.
Attachments
REVIEW TEAM ONLY
City Attorney:
City Manager:
Finance Director:
OTHER:
