Item #18 CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF JUNE 7, 2005 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER SUBJECT: ACCEPT AND APPROVE RECORDATION OF GRANT DEEDS FOR STREET IMPROVEMENT PURPOSES FROM PROPERTY OWNER OF ASSESOR PARCEL NUMBER (APN) 15912-085-1 AT SOUTHEAST CORNER OF VALLEY BLVD. AND RANCHO AVE., IN THE CITY OF COLTON. DATE: MAY 31, 2005 BACKGROUND: On April 7, 2005, the City Council awarded the contract to New West Signal of Fontana, CA to modify the existing traffic signal at the intersection of Valley Blvd. and Rancho Ave. The proposed improvement includes the modification and relocation of existing traffic signal pole at the southeast comer of this intersection to provide safe right tum movement for motorists especially large vehicle. In addition, these traffic signal modifications necessitate the relocation of existing storm drain catch basin and increased curb return radius. ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: The existing right-of-way at the southeast corner of Valley Blvd. and Rancho Ave. is not sufficient to allow the street improvements necessary for this intersection. The property owner at 792 W. Valley Blvd. (APN 15912-085-1), Daniel L. Allen, had agreed to dedicate the necessary right-of- way at no cost to the City of Colton. A signed copy of the grant deed is attached as Exhibit "A". ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: This action does not have an environmental impact.
