Item #6 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF MAY 3, 2005 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER <br />SUBJECT: APPROVE AMENDMENT TO THE ENGINEERING DESIGN <br />CONTRACT OF ENGINEERING RESOURCES, INC. FOR <br />AGUA MANSA ROAD RE -ALIGNMENT PROJECT AND <br />APPROVE RESOLUTION TO INCREASE THE PURCHASE <br />ORDER AMOUNT FOR DESIGN IN THE AMOUNT OF $31,750. <br />DATE: APRIL 26, 2005 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On September 7, 2004, City Council authorized the award of contract for the design of Agua <br />Mansa Road Widening and Street Improvement Project to Engineering Resources of Southern <br />California, Inc. The proposed street improvement of Agua Mansa Road from Riverside Avenue <br />to Rialto Creek includes widening the road carriageway to four (4) 12 -foot lanes with a 14 -foot <br />median and possible change of alignment at the approach of Rialto Channel to aligned with <br />existing channel crossing. A raised median will be utilized at the approach of Riverside Avenue <br />and RIX facility to better control the left -turn movements. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />With the continuing increase in traffic volume along Agua Mansa Road and big potential of the <br />area for development in coming years, it is necessary to extend the proposed improvement from <br />Rialto Channel eastward to the County limit. Engineering Resources of Southern California, Inc. <br />submitted a proposal for the engineering design of this portion in the amount of $31,735.
