Colton City Council Meeting
May 3, 2005
Colton Cares Program Disposition
(page 2)
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Selection of the first option noted above would have a financial impact to the General Fund in an
amount roughly equal to $150,000. This amount would be transferred from the General Fund to
the Childcare Fund in order to close the financial gap in the Colton Cares budget. Selection of the
second option (closing the program) will have a minimal financial impact on the City. The lease on
the Colton Cares facility runs through September, 2005. Honoring this lease will cost the City an
additional $12,600, which would need to be budgeted for fiscal year 2005-06.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
None
CONFLICT OF INTEREST:
None
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that City Council approve the closure of the Colton Cares facility, effective at
the conclusion of the current fiscal year, 2004-05. Staff feels as though this decision, while
regrettable, is the responsible decision, in the best interest of the City.
PREPARED BY: Bill Smith, Community Services Director
REVIEW TEAM ONLY
City Attorney: Finance Director:
City Manager: OTHER: _
