$117,762 lower than the assessments received. A savings will be experienced by awarding the
maintenance agreement to EZ Sunnyday Landscape. The City proposes that the savings be
utilized in the following manner:
• $72,762 - fund a Maintenance Worker position in the LLMD to oversee the contractors
service level and fund administrative costs incurred by the Public Works Department;
$30,000 - kept in reserves;
• $15,000 - fund as needed repairs to the irrigation system and replanting of foliage
within the LLMDs.
The LLMD is one of seven divisions the Public Works Department currently oversees.
Maintenance of the areas within the LLMD 1 and LLMD 2 have been duties assigned to a single
(1) Crew Leader and five (5) Maintenance Workers. At this time if the lowest bidder is awarded
the proposed agreement one (1) of the Maintenance Workers currently working within the LLMD
division will remain in the LLMD, funded by the savings, to ensure that the quality of work is
maintained in both Districts. The remaining five positions working within the LLMD will be
absorbed into the Parks and Streets Divisions where there are six (6) existing, unfilled, vacancies.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The award of this agreement will have a positive impact on general fund as the operating budget
for LLMD division will not require a $156,741.90 contribution from general fund. In addition, the
savings noted will pay for the LLMD division's corresponding administrative costs.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
Not applicable.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST:
Exact Business Name: EZ Sunnyday Landscape
President or Equal: Jackie Zecena
Contact or representative: Jackie Zecena
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends award of maintenance agreement to EZ Sunnyday Landscape for LLMD
maintenance services in the annual amount of $196,800.
Attachment: Exhibit A - Proposed Agreement
Prepared by: Maritza Tapia - Administrative Analyst
REVIEW TEAM ONLY
City Attorney:
City Manager:.-
Finance Director: 1)
OTHER:
