PUBLIC HEARINGS: <br />Appeal s 289 <br />P. C. Res. No. 1058 <br />Mayor Huntoon announced that this was the continuance of the <br />Public Hearing to consider the Appeal filed by Colton Piano <br />Playhouse. <br />City Clerk Ramos submitted the Affidavit of Posting Notice of Con- <br />tinuance and reported that no protest or objections had been re- <br />ceived. <br />Planning Director Aguilera made a status report on the Variance <br />application requested by Colton Piano Playhouse to construct a sign <br />at 1405 West Valley Boulevard, which was denied by the Planning Com- <br />mission, as outlined in Planning Commission Resolution No. 1058, and <br />the Appeal that had been filed on that decision. <br />Mr. Aguilera continued that the Colton Municipal Code, Section 18.32. <br />020F.5., provides that the City Council shall announce its findings <br />and decision by formal resolution, and that resolution shall recite <br />the facts and reasons for either the approval or denial of the appli- <br />cation. <br />Mr. Aguilera concluded that the Council should first vote on a motion <br />to grant or deny the Variance application, then adopt a resolution <br />(10 reciting its reasons for either approval or denial. <br />D <br />< Mayor Huntoon asked if anyone present desired to speak in favor of <br />Q or in opposition to this matter. <br />Mr. Chris Christianson, representing Mr. Vern Schafer and Colton <br />Piano Playhouse, gave each Council Member a drawing of the Play- <br />house building indicating the sign/marquee proposed. Mr. Christian- <br />son then gave an explanation of what the applicant is attempting <br />to achieve on his property, and the reason for the large "marquee" <br />type of sign. Mr. Christianson stated he would be happy to answer <br />any questions the Council Members may have regarding their proposal. <br />Also speaking on behalf of the applicant and the Colton Piano Play- <br />house proposal were Mr. James Nicola and Mr. Erwin Neagle. <br />After additional discussion, moved by Councilman Rios, seconded by <br />Councilwoman Cisneros, the Public Hearing was terminated. Vote was <br />unanimous. <br />City Attorney Edwards then explained the two alternatives available <br />to the City Council in adopting Resolution No. 4275. <br />Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilwoman Garcia, to <br />approve Appeal and Variance application. Upon Roll Call Vote, the <br />motion carried, with Councilman Rehrer voting NO. <br />Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilman Rios, to <br />approve Resolution No. 4275.
