PUBLIC HEARINGS: Appeal s 289 P. C. Res. No. 1058 Mayor Huntoon announced that this was the continuance of the Public Hearing to consider the Appeal filed by Colton Piano Playhouse. City Clerk Ramos submitted the Affidavit of Posting Notice of Con- tinuance and reported that no protest or objections had been re- ceived. Planning Director Aguilera made a status report on the Variance application requested by Colton Piano Playhouse to construct a sign at 1405 West Valley Boulevard, which was denied by the Planning Com- mission, as outlined in Planning Commission Resolution No. 1058, and the Appeal that had been filed on that decision. Mr. Aguilera continued that the Colton Municipal Code, Section 18.32. 020F.5., provides that the City Council shall announce its findings and decision by formal resolution, and that resolution shall recite the facts and reasons for either the approval or denial of the appli- cation. Mr. Aguilera concluded that the Council should first vote on a motion to grant or deny the Variance application, then adopt a resolution (10 reciting its reasons for either approval or denial. D < Mayor Huntoon asked if anyone present desired to speak in favor of Q or in opposition to this matter. Mr. Chris Christianson, representing Mr. Vern Schafer and Colton Piano Playhouse, gave each Council Member a drawing of the Play- house building indicating the sign/marquee proposed. Mr. Christian- son then gave an explanation of what the applicant is attempting to achieve on his property, and the reason for the large "marquee" type of sign. Mr. Christianson stated he would be happy to answer any questions the Council Members may have regarding their proposal. Also speaking on behalf of the applicant and the Colton Piano Play- house proposal were Mr. James Nicola and Mr. Erwin Neagle. After additional discussion, moved by Councilman Rios, seconded by Councilwoman Cisneros, the Public Hearing was terminated. Vote was unanimous. City Attorney Edwards then explained the two alternatives available to the City Council in adopting Resolution No. 4275. Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilwoman Garcia, to approve Appeal and Variance application. Upon Roll Call Vote, the motion carried, with Councilman Rehrer voting NO. Moved by Councilwoman Cisneros, seconded by Councilman Rios, to approve Resolution No. 4275. Unanimous vote.
