464
Automotive Shops
City Manager Elliott stated the major item requested in this budget was one of
enlarging the building, Page 486, and this request has been deleted.
Water
City Manager Elliott reported the Water Utility needs to construct a building
to house an onan generator that will be moved from an existing well site to a new
well site further down. Mr. Elliott said the Water Superintendent has made the
recommendation because the well where the generator is presently located cannot
supply water to fill the reservoirs in case of an emergency.
Council will refer back to Page 523.
Water Quality Control Plant
City Manager Elliott reported on his demand to the City of Grand Terrace for the
payment of funds as a result of the suit settlement.
Councilman Rehrer stated that he would like to receive data showing the capacity of
the treatment plants and where we stand.
Refuse
City Manager stated Page 539, again would include the combining of the Refuse Divi-
sion with the Streets Division, as recommended and discussed earlier.
Cemetery
City Manager Elliott complimented the work being done by Mrs. Madsen at the
Cemetery.
Council discussed Page 557 and the possibility of retaining the hours of the two
part-time men at 7 hours. Mrs. Madsen reported to the Council the men had been
working 7 hours from the savings in the salary account, however, a salesperson
has now been hired and if the Council desired to retain the 7 hour level of ser-
vice, additional funds would be needed. Council will refer back to Page 557, to
consider adding $6,240.
Council will look at Page 560, to determine the correct fund amount necessary to
provide uniforms for the temporary help.
Mrs. Madsen stated on Page 575, there is a request for chairs in the reception
area, however, she would prefer to use that money to purchase mini -blinds for the
windows to detract from their unsightliness.
Electric
Mr. Drews, Electric Utility Superintendent, reported they have received the rate
study from R. W. Beck and in reviewing the preliminary draft, the proposal has been
made to use the Southern California Edison rebate to offset the 2 1/2% increase over
the next year. Mr. Drews talked about deferring a rate increase until the close of
the budget for this year.
Page 646 was reduced by $2,000 by Mr. Drews stating the Training Learning Center
Classes were now covered in Account 16.
Page 650, Mr. Drews stated budget changes may be necessary in order to handle the
purchase of power, however, if that becomes necessary, it will be brought to the _
Council at a later date as an amendment.
Page 660, Mr. Drews reported this was the principal of the substation facility
built in 1972 through a Bond Measure.
Council completed review of the Electric Utility budget with no further additions
or deletions.
General
City Manager stated staff would like to bring back to the Council an incorporation
of comments, additions, and deletions to the budget for a final review and to obtain
JUN 251M
