Mr. Benest stated if the City crews were to be involved in this, the work would have to be done during regular working hours in order to avoid paying overtime. Mr. Benest suggested that Mr. Morgan speak with Public Works Director Hutton and Electric Utility Director Drews on this matter, and possibly something could be resolved before the end of the meeting. CITY MANAGER'S REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Electric Meter Charges Res. No. R-100-87 City Manager Benest reported on the removal of the customer charge of $3.53 per meter per month from Rate Schedule R-1, Residential Service. The total annual decrease in revenues from eliminating the charge is estimated to be about $500,000. Reserve Account funds and decreased costs of purchased power will be used to offset the loss of revenues at present. The Utility Commission, at its meeting of July 6, 1987, voted unanimously to recommend to the City Council they adopt the change in rates. Mr. Benest concluded Staff recommends approval of Resolution No. R- 100-87, eliminating the customer charge of $3.53 per meter per month on Schedule R-1, Residential Service. Mr. Benest also commended Electric Utility Director Drews for his efforts on this matter. Mr. Benest advised there will be a Press Release on this matter tomorrow afternoon, July 22, 1987.
