Mr. John M. Aguilar, Jr., 1625 Alston Avenue, Colton, stating he supports <br />this measure and sees a benefit in having representation of one council- <br />person per district. <br />Mr. Henry T. Mendoza, 464 West "M" Street, Colton, stating he has been <br />a voter for over 55 years and he has always pursued bettering the City. <br />Mr. Mendoza spoke favorably of the initiative petition and proposed <br />ordinance. <br />Mr. Ray Hunter, 520 Martin Avenue, Colton, stated he is a native of <br />Colton and spoke in support of the proposed ordinance and petition. <br />Mr. Bruce Carr, 1150 North La Cadena Drive, Colton, stated they are all <br />in favor of establishing districts and the Council should listen to <br />the people because they have spoken. <br />Mrs. Donna Robertson, 1640 Washington, Colton, stating there was a lot <br />of negativity from the Mayor and Council, and the residents need some- <br />one that lives in their area to represent them. <br />Mr. John Longfield, 1809 Cottonwood Drive, Colton, spoke in favor of the <br />proposed ordinance and asked that the Council please make it a Roll Call <br />vote. <br />Mr. Don DeArmond, 1175 Bonita Drive, Colton, urged the Council adopt <br />the proposal as described by the spokesperson. <br />Mrs. Julie Biggs, Best, Best & Krieger, 3750 University Avenue, River- <br />side, spoke about elections and putting this measure on the ballot. <br />Mrs. Biggs also spoke about other options available to the Council, <br />stating the Council could draft their own ordinance either independent- <br />ly or in joint cooperation with the Committee. <br />Councilman Lofy stated he was in favor of placing this measure on the <br />ballot. Mr. Lofy said he can live with anything the people want. Mr. <br />Lofy recommended this matter be returned to Staff to include the proper <br />language as necessary. <br />Mr. George Fulp, 1497 Cindee Lane, Colton, stated the measure as sub- <br />mitted should go on the ballot and they, the Committee and Petition <br />signers, are not going to challenge the measure. Mr. Fulp said the <br />Committee is willing to discuss with Staff getting boundaries and the <br />measure on the ballot. <br />After additional discussion, moved by Councilman Lofy, seconded by <br />Councilman Rehrer, to refer this matter back to Staff for additional <br />review and information, and return to the Council with a report in <br />thirty (30) days.
