Director Drews said the estimated revenues are $18 million. A $1
million refund from Southern California Edison makes it appear as $19
million in revenue.
Director Drews said he would like to go forward with the budget and come
back at a later date with a five year rate structure plan. A 3%
increase is estimated for the first year. Increases will gradually work
towards the five year rate. Director Drews said the new substation in
the west side of the City is being planned. Mr. Drews said he had
heard that at a recent Medical Center planning meeting, discussion was
to have Southern California Edison serve the hospital. Mr. Drews said
the City should ensure that any facility going into the west end be
serviced by the City Electric Utility.
Director Drews requested a new position of Meter Tech. Mr. Drews
said this position is needed to control and monitor the meters
that need repair. Mr. Drews said the current meter tech has become
very busy doing consumer work. Director Drews said the meter tech
needs to be free to do field work to check on meters, repair and
replace meters. This continual monitoring and testing ensures that
the meters are working properly and that the City is not losing revenue.
City Manager Stratton said the Electric Utility currently has two
vacancies, one is in recruitment. The second is in the process
of having a job description prepared for it prior to recruitment.
A job description will also have to be prepared for the Meter
Tech, if the position is approved.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the City Council
at this time, on motion of Councilmember Roman, seconded by Council -
member Lofy and unanimously passed, Mayor Gonzales adjourned the
meeting at 7:00 p.m.
HELEN A. RAMOS, CMC
City Clerk
City of Colton
4
SEP 3 0 1991
