Councilman Lofy directed Mr. Mendoza to remain at the podium and asked him if he had ever <br />told Mr. Mendoza about wanting the job. He urged Mr. Mendoza to tell the truth. He <br />reminded Mr. Mendoza that he had retired from the position of Parks and Recreation <br />Director. <br />IVIS. Tricia Ruminski, 3012 Shadid, supported the statements made on behalf of Mr. Herron, <br />She mentioned that as Chairman of Parrs and Recreation Commission, she has worked <br />closely with Mr. Herron and knows that he has brought professionalism to the job. In the <br />short time she has worked with him, he has demonstrated an ability to manage the job and <br />an ability to communicate effectively with staff. She stated she was looking forward to <br />working with hire in the future. <br />Mr. Eugene P, McMeans, 2025 S. Glenwood Ave., reiterated and reinforced the statements <br />made about Mr. Herron, He listed the additional duties that Mr. Herron is responsible for: <br />Graffiti, childcare, grounds and tree trimming 4 which should be part of public works and <br />should be looked into. Mr. Mc Means commended lien Herron for doing a good job <br />communicating and performing with a reduced budget. Mr. Mc Means called for a routine <br />performance evaluation to be conducted for all department heads, <br />Recall <br />Mr. Don Sanders pointed out that the proponents charges for recall have been refined or <br />expanded on the sample ballot. He voiced his firm support of Councilwoman Cisneros. He <br />abhorred this attach on her and her family, Mr. Sanders praised Councilman Lofy for his <br />support of Councilwoman Cisneros and asked the rest of the Council to do the same before <br />September 15, 1992. <br />Clean Green Program <br />Mr, Fred Cordova, 190 West *'E'° Street, supported Mr, Lofy, having known him from his <br />work in little league. Mr. Cordova congratulated the City Council for approving the Clean <br />Green Program, He did not consider it as losing a day of collection rather he feels that he <br />has gained as he mows his lawns on every Saturday and Sunday and fills four 33 -gallon <br />containers, He counts on his green waste collection day. The State has passed the law and <br />if this program had not been started, the City would have been fined. He urged that this <br />program be started immediately. <br />Southern Pa ific Railroad <br />Ms. Gwen Brown, 1146 W. Alida St., alerted City Council about a problem residents of the <br />west -end are facing with the Southern Pacific Railroad trains: Trains are corning through at <br />3:00 in the morning, She has contacted Southern Pacific and they are willing to work with <br />the City Council and its citizens, She asked that the City Attorney research the law as to <br />noise standard, mayor Gonzales thanked Mrs. Brown for this information and referred the <br />7 <br />P <br />
