FREEMAN
Executive Secretary
of Colton
Colton Civic Center
Colton, California
IN REPLY REFER TO:
Attention: Elizabeth Davis
City Clerk
Gentlemen:
As requested in your letter of June 25, 1964, 1 have
reviewed Ordinance No. 1200. It appears to be in proper form
to effect an increase in your local sales and use tax rate
from 925/1000 of 1% to 950/1000 of 1%, assuming that the
San Bernardino county local sales and use tax ordinance is
amended to accommodate the rate change®
As you no doubt know, the Cities of Rialto and Fontana
have passed ordinances raising their local sales and use tax
rates from .925 of 1% to .95 of 1%, effective July 1, 1964.
Under the provisions of § 9 of San Bernardino County Ordinance
No. 790, the county ordinance shall become inoperative on
October 1, 1964, unless the situation changes Prior to that date.
As You of course realize, City of Colton Ordinance No. 1200
would have to be properly passed, adopted, and approved by the
City Council of the City of Colton before it could become
operative.
I If you have further questions regarding this matter,
please advise.
Ver truly yours,
Jack D.
