PERMIT REQUIRED <br />A permit.from the Building and Safety Department is hereby requirefd,, <br />before the commencement or any physical work to raise or lower the existing <br />grade of any lot, or for any excavation or. filling which changes the grade of <br />the natural slope of the surface of any lot so that it will not take natural run -,-- <br />off of water from adjacent lot or lots as before the excavation or All, or so thR <br />the surface drainage of the lot is concentrated or Collected anddischarged <br />onto another lot in a different location or in greater quantity, or at an <br />accelerated rate, or in such a way that it will probably result in damage. or <br />in a way that creates a hazard to the public health, safety, or public property, <br />or to such, extent that the excavation, or filling will require or be accompanied <br />20 by the hauling of earth or other material over any public street in a vehicle <br />21 with a gross weight of vehicle and load in excess of that permitted by law or <br />22 ordinanpe of the City. Any permit is sued hereunder shall be valid for a period <br />23 not to exceed one (1) year ti Unless the earth movement is commenced within <br />24 ninety ('90) days after the issuance of the permit, such permit shall expire; <br />25 and if such earth movement after being started, shall cease for aperiod of <br />26 ninety (910):i da.7s,,-. said permit shall expire unless, renewed. <br />27 SECTION 6. EXCEPTIONS <br />28 The following are specifically excepted from the provision of this <br />29 Ordinance, but this exception shall not eMct the applicability of any provis- <br />30 ions. hereof to any fill made with the material of such. excavation. <br />31 Aj An excavation below finished grade for & basement or footings <br />32 for a building, or swimming pool, or other structure authorized: <br />-3- <br />
