2 3 4 5 7 i 81 9 10 11 12 ORDINANCE NO. 1548 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COLTON, CALIFORNIA, ADDING CHAPTER 7.09 TO THE COLTON MUNICIPAL CODE DECLARING THE MAINTENANCE OF APIARIES AND THE KEEPING OF BEES TO BE A NUISANCE AND PROHIBIT- ING THE MAINTENANCE OF APIARIES AND THE KEEPING OF BEES WITHIN THE CITY OF COLTON. THE CITY 'COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS: There is hereby added to the.Municipal Code of the City of Colton IChapter 7.09, which is to read as follows: SECTION 7.09.010. The City Council hereby determines and declares that the maintenance of apiaries and the keeping of bees within the City of Colton has become and is dangerous to the inhabitants of said City, and has be- come and is an obstruction to the free use of nrnnprty in cn;A r;+„ j__ 13 linterfere with and prevent the comfortable enjoyment of life and property of a 34 !considerable number of persons, residents of said City, and the maintenance of !apiaries and the keeping of bees within 15 I 16 !determined to be a.public nuisance. d. said City is hereby found, declared and 3..71 SECTION 7.09.020. It is hereby declared unlawful for any person, 1-8 firm or corporation to keep or maintain an apiary or keep or maintain bees at 39 - Jany place within the corporate limits of the City of Colton and within one 201thousand (1,000) feet of an inhabited dwelling. 1, 2I SECTION 7.09.030. This Ordinance shall not apply to apiaries of 22Ifive colonies or less which are not a public nuisance. 23 SECTION 7.09.040. Any person, firm or corporation violating any 24 !of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and 25 liupon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine not exceeding Five Hundred 26 Dollars ($500.00) or by imprisonment not exceeding thirty (30) days, or by both 27iisuch fineandimprisonment,in the discretion of the Court. 28
