RESOLUTION 1221 <br />WHEREAS, the 5tatu.tes of the State of California provide that <br />that municipal corporations, counties, school districts and public <br />agencies may contract with the Board of Administration of the California <br />State Employees' Retirement System for Employees' Retirement and, <br />14HEREAS, the City Council of the City of Colton approved the proposition <br />of the City of Colton entering into a contract with said State Retirement <br />Board providing for the Colton City Employees to become members of the <br />State Retirement System, and <br />MIEREAS, the State Retirement Act requires that an election shall be <br />held among Colton City Firemen, Colton City Policemen and City Employees <br />other than City Firemen and City Policemen, for the purpose of approving or <br />rejecting the proposition of becoming members of the said State Retirement <br />System. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of <br />Colton that an election be and the same is hereby called to be held on <br />the 30th day of April, 1945 for the purpose of the Colton City Firemen, <br />Colton City Policemen and Employees of the City of Colton other than Fire- <br />men and Foliasmen, voting on the proposition of becoming members of the <br />State Retirement System. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that for the purpose of said election there <br />shall be one polling place, which said polling place shall be in the Offiee <br />of the City Clerk, City Hall, Colton, California. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the polls for said election shall be <br />opened at the hour of eight o'clock of the morning of the day of said <br />election and shall be kept open until six o'clock of the afternoon of the <br />same day when the polls shall be closed, excepting and providing however that <br />if at the hour of said closing there are any employees in the polling place <br />or in line at the door thereof who are qualified to vote and have not been <br />able to do so since arriving, the polls shall be kept open for sufficient <br />time to <br />enable them <br />to vote, <br />but <br />no <br />one who <br />shall have arrived at the <br />polling <br />place after <br />the hour <br />of <br />six <br />o'clock <br />in the afternoon shall be <br />entitled to vote though the polls may be open when he arrives. <br />
