RESOLUTION 1221 WHEREAS, the 5tatu.tes of the State of California provide that that municipal corporations, counties, school districts and public agencies may contract with the Board of Administration of the California State Employees' Retirement System for Employees' Retirement and, 14HEREAS, the City Council of the City of Colton approved the proposition of the City of Colton entering into a contract with said State Retirement Board providing for the Colton City Employees to become members of the State Retirement System, and MIEREAS, the State Retirement Act requires that an election shall be held among Colton City Firemen, Colton City Policemen and City Employees other than City Firemen and City Policemen, for the purpose of approving or rejecting the proposition of becoming members of the said State Retirement System. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Colton that an election be and the same is hereby called to be held on the 30th day of April, 1945 for the purpose of the Colton City Firemen, Colton City Policemen and Employees of the City of Colton other than Fire- men and Foliasmen, voting on the proposition of becoming members of the State Retirement System. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that for the purpose of said election there shall be one polling place, which said polling place shall be in the Offiee of the City Clerk, City Hall, Colton, California. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the polls for said election shall be opened at the hour of eight o'clock of the morning of the day of said election and shall be kept open until six o'clock of the afternoon of the same day when the polls shall be closed, excepting and providing however that if at the hour of said closing there are any employees in the polling place or in line at the door thereof who are qualified to vote and have not been able to do so since arriving, the polls shall be kept open for sufficient time to enable them to vote, but no one who shall have arrived at the polling place after the hour of six o'clock in the afternoon shall be entitled to vote though the polls may be open when he arrives.
