BY THE NECESSARY FUNDING REQUIRED TO ESTABLISH <br />A YOUTH BUREAU. <br />WHEREAS, The State Department of Youth Authority will make <br />funding available for establishing 7'Youth Bureaus in the State; and <br />WHEREAS', Los Padrinos of San Bernardino, Inc. plan to submit an <br />application for a grant of $80,000 to establish such a bureau to serve Colton, <br />San Bernardino, and Riverside, to be matched by, Los Padrinos by $80,000 or in <br />kind services in equivalent.to $80,000, making a total of $160,000 for the <br />project, and <br />WHEREAS, Youth service bureaus are neighborhood projects designed <br />to reduce delinquency by roviding services to divert vulnerable youth from <br />criminal justice system. They provide a variety of programs, including employ- <br />ment and family counseling, special education. and recreation.. They utilize <br />paraprofessionals and volunteers, and 'seek to involve youths' families and <br />local community citizens to participate in project activities; and <br />WHEREAS, Los Padrinos of San Bernardino, Inc. has since its <br />establishment in 1973, provided guidance, education and innumerable worthwhile <br />activities for youths in the Inland Empire Area communities, thereby enhancing <br />youths opportunities for both character and economic development and the better- <br />ment of their lives; and <br />WHEREAS, Los Padrinos seeks to further advance the scope of <br />their youth projects, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF COLTON, urges the State Department of Youth Authority to support Los <br />Padrinos of San Bernardino, Inc. by the necessary funding required to establish <br />a Youth Bureau. <br />PASSED, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED this 6th day of April, 1976. <br />ATTEST: Mayor <br />Q - <br />City Clerk <br />
