1 <br />.2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15' <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3725 <br />WHEREAS, the State of California has a surplus of fundsin the <br />State Highway Account; and <br />WHEREAS, these funds were paid by the taxpayers of California <br />for the purpose of building roads; and <br />WHEREAS, it is not in the public interest to levy taxes if they <br />are not being used for the intended purpose; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City <br />Of Colton does request that Senator Presley introduce new legislation or amend <br />existing proposed legislation to assure the expenditure of surplus funds ac- <br />cumulated in the State Highway Fund Account in accordance with the desires of <br />local agencies and the State Legislature, to provide the following: <br />I Restrict the amount of funds that can be accumulated in <br />.the State Highway Account in any one month to a maximum <br />of $75 million. <br />2. In any month in which the surplus exceeds the above amount,- <br />the excess money shall be distributed to the cities and <br />counties of California in accordance with existing State law. <br />PASSED, APPROVED 'and ADOPTED this 20th day of September, 1977. <br />LA B ZE.
