0 <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12' <br />13 Ii <br />I� <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 , <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3737 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF COLTON REQUESTING THE SOCIAL <br />SECURITY ADMINISTRATION TO RELOCATE ITS <br />OFFICE TO THE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT. <br />WHEREAS, the Social Security office at its present location of <br />2110 East Highland Avenue, San Bernardino, is not easily accessible to the <br />general public, particularly the senior citizen population; and <br />WHEREAS, the Social Security office is located approximately <br />10.1 miles from central Colton; and <br />WHEREAS, persons who travel, by bus, to the Social Security <br />Office from the City of Colton must transfer in San Bernardino at the central <br />bus terminal located at 4th and "E" Street, making their total travel time <br />one hour and twenty minutes to and from the office; and <br />WHEREAS, the distance of the Social Security office creates a <br />difficulty and hardship upon senior citizens and others who are most in need of <br />their services; and <br />WHEREAS, statistics support the fact that the Social Security <br />Office could best serve a majority of our area residents if it was located in a <br />more centralized location; and <br />WHEREAS, downtown San Bernardino appears to have the most desir- <br />able location for a Social Security office considering the fact that it is <br />within walking distance of the Omnitrans bus terminal, the Greyhound and Con- <br />tinental bus lines; State and County offices, including the County Courthouse; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, General Services Administration (GSA) supports current <br />lefforts to relocate the Social Security Office. <br />
