2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5, <br />6 <br />7 <br />6 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 1 <br />16 <br />17 <br />16 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />I. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 4529 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />COLTON ENDORSING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A FOREIGN <br />TRADE ZONE SITE IN THE CITY OF ONTARIO <br />WHEREAS, the United States Departent of Commerce Foreign Trade Zone_. <br />Board is considering an application to establish a Foreign Trade Zone site in <br />the City of Ontario, County of San Bernardino, California; and <br />WHEREAS, this proposal represents an expansion of the operation of <br />Foreign Trade Zone No. 50, approved by Foreign Trade Zone Board Order No. 147 <br />on September 28, 1979; and <br />WHEREAS, this expansion represents a cooperation indicated by the <br />joint effort between the Port of Long Beach and the City of Ontario, which <br />cooperation is to be commended and encouraged; and <br />WHEREAS„ the City of Ontario has developed an impressive level of <br />public and private. sector cooperation.intended to facilitate business expansion <br />and job growth throughout the area; and <br />WHEREAS., the establishment.of a Foreign Trade Zone site, with its <br />ability to further expand the tax base and create additional job opportunities, <br />will serve to accomplishPresident Ronald Reagan's goal; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of <br />m <br />Colton strongly endorses the establishment of a Foreign n Trade Zone site in <br />Ontario and urges approval of the application. by the United States Department <br />of Commerce Foreign Trade Zone Board. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent to <br />President Ronald Reagan, Senator Alan Cranston, Senator Pete Wilson, Congressman <br />Derry Lewis, Congressman George Brown and Congressman David Dreier. <br />
