M <br />termination of employment by transfers to other agencies, and <br />WHEREAS, providing health care for retired employees and their <br />dependents will promote trained personnel to remain in City service. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Colton resolves <br />as follows: <br />Health insurance after retirement shall be provided as follows: <br />Effective January 1, 1985, the City shall provide employees of the <br />Executive, Fire Management, and Police Management Units, who retire from <br />City employment (either in connection with a service or disability retire- <br />ment), City paid health insurance in an amount equal to the amount paid, from <br />.m <br />time -to -time, by the City. City paid health insurance shall include coverage <br />for the retired employee's eligible dependents. <br />Eligible Retiree: Defined as an employee with twenty (20) or more <br />years of service and is retired from employment with the City of <br />Colton. After January 1, 1985, as a regular, duly appointed, holder <br />of a position, listed in "Exhibit A" attached, other than on an act- <br />ing temporary or probationary status. <br />Eligible Dependent: Defined as those legal dependents covered under <br />an eligible retiree's health plan. If at the time of retirement, <br />the retiree is enrolled in either employee only or employee plus one <br />or more dependent coverage, then the City will continue payments <br />for such coverage to the same extent that it does for continuing <br />employees. <br />Cessation of Payments: Upon the death of the retired employee, the <br />City shall cease payment of health insurance premiums for the <br />retiree's dependents. However, the dependent may elect to continue 'W <br />coverage under the City's health insurance if the premiums are paid <br />by the dependent. <br />If in the future, greater premium amounts are paid by the City to <br />members of the Executive, Fire Management, and Police Management Units, then <br />the higher City payments will be provided to those individuals eligible for <br />retirement health insurance benefits in accord with this article. However, in <br />no case shall the dollar amount of City paid premiums be decreased. <br />Further, the City will maintain the retiree in the plan that the <br />retiree was enrolled in at the time of retirement. If the insurer will not <br />permit continued coverage, then the City shall provide other insurance coverage <br />which is at least of equal benefit. The dollar amount shall be only the cost <br />for health insurance premiums. <br />Health and welfare benefits, including health insurance coverage, <br />shall be provided at City expense for former City Clerks, City Treasurers, <br />City Attorneys, and for former elective members of the legislative body of <br />the City who serve in office after the effective date hereof and whose total ..r <br />service at the time of termination of service is not less than twelve years <br />per Government Code 52301. <br />OPTICAL PLAN <br />Effective January 1, 1985, the City shall provide to each employee in the <br />Executive, Police Management and Fire Management Units, Members of the Legisla- <br />tive body, City Clerk, City Treasurer, and City Attorney an optical plan which <br />will include the following. <br />
