1 <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25' <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />Whereas, Prop. 68 denies cities and counties the right to use funds where local <br />governments determine they are most needed; and <br />Whereas, Prop.68 funding only provides "exclusively" for "additional" personnel in <br />local police, sheriff and fire departments and cannot be used for any other purposes such <br />as equipment, support, training, supervision, and other necessary expenditures required to <br />support new personnel; and <br />Whereas, to be eligible for any new funds generated by the Prop. 68, cities and <br />counties must use existing budget dollars to establish a baseline or maintenance of effort <br />expenditure for child protective services, sheriffs, police officers and firefighters—which <br />could worsen local budget problems. <br />NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON DOES <br />HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br />The City of Colton does hereby OPPOSE Proposition No. 68 — The Gaming <br />Revenue Act of 2004. <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 5th day of October 2004. <br />;7k- <br />DEIRDRE H.
