R-15-04 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON TO <br />AMEND RESOLUTION NO. R-67-96 NET ENERGY METERING TO CONFORM <br />WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA PUBLIC <br />UTILITY CODE SECTION NO. 2827 <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton desires to encourage private investment in renewable <br />energy resources, stimulate in-state economic growth, reduce demand for electricity during <br />peak consumption periods, help stabilize California's energy supply infrastructure, enhance <br />the continued diversification of California's energy mix, and reduce interconnection and <br />administrative costs. <br />WHEREAS, the State of California's Public Utility Code has established regulations <br />concerning net metering and utility interconnections with solar and wind energy producing <br />systems that are different from Colton Net Energy Metering policy Resolution No. R-76-96. <br />WHEREAS, Customers of the City of Colton Electric Utility have expressed a desire <br />to install solar electric and wind energy system in the Colton electric Utility Service Area. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Colton does <br />hereby resolve and find as follows: <br />Section 1. The City Council does fully support the encouragement of private <br />investment in renewable energy resources, the stimulation of economic growth, the reduction <br />of electrical demand during peak consumption periods, the stabilization of the energy supply <br />infrastructure, the enhancement of the diversification of the energy supply mix, and the <br />reduction of interconnection and administrative costs. <br />Section 2. The City Council does fully support the amendment of resolution R-67-96 <br />Net Metering to the policy as stated in the resolution (Attachment 1), so that the Colton <br />Electric Utility's Customer Service Policy conforms to the requirements in section 2827 of the <br />California Public Utilities Code. <br />PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of February 2004 <br />A T: <br />CAROLINA P.
