<br />Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program
<br />Fiscal Year 2006-2007
<br />Project Proposal Applications
<br />1. City of Colton -Community Services Department—Family Services Division,
<br />"Senior Citizens Computer Literacy Program," $6,600: CDBG funds will
<br />be use to establish a computer lab to provide and promote computer literacy
<br />to senior citizens. Funds will be use to hire a computer instructor and to
<br />purchase four computers, a multipurpose printer, two computer training tables
<br />and four chairs, and computer supplies. The proposed program would be
<br />operated at the Hutton Center.
<br />2. City of Colton Police Department -Colton Police Activities League, "Colton
<br />Police Activities League (PAL)," $30,000: The Colton Police Activities
<br />League (PAL) is requesting CDBG funds to continue the Youth Recreation
<br />Program for at -risk youth, ages 8 to 18, who reside in the city of Colton. PAL
<br />is a juvenile crime prevention program that provides activities to youth to
<br />avoid juvenile crime during non -school hours and weekends. PAL is
<br />organized as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation, sponsored by the Colton
<br />Police Department. Police officers and civilian volunteers will operate sports
<br />oriented programs in the areas of baseball, off-road safety education, boxing
<br />and self defense.
<br />3. City of Colton -Engineering Department, "South Colton Street and Alley
<br />Improvements -9th, Congress, Hert, and Walnut Streets," $346,500: The
<br />project would include the installation of missing curb, gutter, sidewalks, drive
<br />approach, handicap ramps on 9th ("K" to "O"), Congress (5th to Walnut), Hert
<br />(Walnut to S. La Cadena), and Walnut (Congress to Maple); remove and
<br />replace 3 -inch thick asphalt on 6th Street ("L" to the alley); and asphalt paving
<br />of dirt alleys from S. La Cadena to 9th Street (between "N" and "O"), and from
<br />9th to 10th Streets (between "M" and "N"). The area to be improved is located
<br />in Census Tract 69.
<br />4. City of Colton -Engineering Department, "Northeast Colton Street
<br />Improvements—Bothwell, Glenwood, Holly, Jantzen, Johnston,
<br />Monterey, Rialto, Riverside, Virginia, and Wildwood Streets," $286,000:
<br />The project would construct missing concrete curb, gutter, sidewalk, drive
<br />approach, and handicap ramps on Bothwell (Hillcrest to Grant), Glenwood
<br />(Olive to Wildwood), Holly (Hillcrest to Grant), Jantzen (Citrus to Johnston),
<br />Johnston (south side only from Mt. Vernon to Bordwell), Monterey (Bothwell
<br />to Fairview), Rialto (Citrus to Johnston), Riverside (Citrus to Johnston),
<br />Virginia (Citrus to Johnston), and Wildwood (Glenwood to Coburn). The
<br />proposed project area is located in Census Tracts 67 and 70.
