R-52-05 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />COLTON AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2119 TO ADD THE <br />PLACEMENT OF A STOP SIGN AT THE INTERSECTION OF <br />ROSEDALE AVENUE AND LA LOMA AVENUE <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton is a municipal corporation duly organized and existing <br />pursuant to the Constitution and laws of the State of California ("City"); and <br />WHEREAS, staff has received complaints and concerns about visibility of motorists <br />traveling along Rosedale Avenue at the intersection of La Loma Avenue due to (1) the <br />placement of existing shrubbery and other landscaping; (2) the street intersection is not a <br />right angle intersection; and <br />WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code, section 21101 authorizes the City Council of the <br />City to designate, by resolution, highways as through streets and intersections and stop <br />intersections; and <br />WHEREAS, there is substantial evidence upon which the City Council may <br />reasonably adopt the stop sign design provided for in this Resolution. These include: <br />1. The placement of existing shrubbery at the northeast corner of <br />Rosedale Avenue and la Loma Avenue; and <br />2. The visibility problem due to the non standard intersection. <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the plans for the proposed intersection <br />and has determined that the proposed stop sign is the best way, given the City's resources, <br />to provide protection for motorists and pedestrians that use this intersection; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON DOES <br />RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Colton hereby adopts the recitals <br />contained in this ordinance as findings in support of the placement of a stop sign at the <br />intersection of Rosedale Avenue and La Loma Avenue. <br />1 <br />
