Keane, Assistant City Manage <br />SUBJECT; Award of bid for annual contract for automo Date: March 24, 1988 <br />Live batteries to White Van Battery Co. in <br />the estimated amount of $4,380.00 <br />On March 5, 1988 we advertised for annual automotive battery <br />requirements as generated by various City Departments. Period <br />of this contract will be April 1, 1988 through March 31, 1989. <br />Bid opening was held at 2:00 P.M., March 21, 1988 in the <br />Electric Department Conference Room. Bid security was waived <br />on this particular bid as it will be a requirements type con- <br />tract and as such an exact amount cannot be predetermined. <br />Five bids were received for this requirement. A bid analysis <br />is attached which reflects estimated total cost; discount <br />terms, and delivery. The recommended vendor's price is under- <br />lined. It will be noted that the estimated price of the contract <br />is below the $5000.00 limitation which requires Council appro- <br />val' however yit'is Staff opinion that Council approval would <br />be prudent in this instance as any additional requirements <br />over er and above our <br />annual estimate could result in <br />the total cost of the contract exceeding the $5000.00 limita- <br />tion. <br />Recommendation; Staff recommends that bid award be made to <br />White Van Battery Co. in the estimated amount of $4,380.00. <br />Report prepared by Mary Scribner, Buyer' <br />CITY MANAGER CONCURRENCE: <br />Item No. -- <br />
