CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT (CONTINUED)
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF April 5, 1988
SUBJECT: Award of Contract for Phase I of Fogg Street Extension Project,
City Project #81-5
1. A. Continued:
TOTAL FOR FY87-88 $335,950
Budgeted Funds for FY87-88 300,000
Difference $35,950
Staff would then recommend that the difference ($35,950) between
what was allocated for FY87-88 and the actual first year project
cost, plus contingency ($15,000), be taken from the capital
improvement account for street overlay work.
This would be the minimum required by the contractor to move on
to the project this fiscal year. In addition, staff recommends
that Council. conceptually.agree to allocate for the next fiscal.
year as a capital improvement the remainder of the Fogg Street
Project, Phase I in the amount of $315,343.
This would allow the Fogg Street Extension Project to begin this
fiscal year under one contract and proceed into the upcoming
fiscal year for completion. In,addition, it would allow staff
time to negotiate with the adjacent property owner for a
contribution towards the project..
2. Council take street overlay funds and allocate those funds to the
Fogg Street project in the amount of $336,293 to complete the
project in this fiscal year and award the contract to Bonadiman
McCain Inc. in the amount of $636,293. (However, we would not be
able to implement most of our street overlay program this year).
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that Alternative 1 be approved and Council authorize the City Manager
to negotiate and execute award of the construction contract to Bonadiman McCain Inc.
in the amount of $636,293 plus $15,000 contingency for a total of 651,29.
JCH/1j
CITY MANAGER'S CONCURRENCE:
Page 2 of 2 item No.
