Keane, Assistant City Manager,/' <br />SUBJECT: Award of Bid to Pacific Equipment for a <br />Riding Lawnmower for the Cemetery in the <br />Amount of $7,732.70. <br />Date: August 15, 1988 <br />On August 4, 1988, we advertised for quotations on a riding <br />lawnmower for the Cemetery. Bid opening was held at 2:00 P.M., <br />August 15,.1988, in the General Services office. There were <br />five bids received but, only two of the bidders submitted the <br />required bid security. The two responsive bids are shown on <br />the attached Bid Analysis. The recommended vendor's price <br />is underlined. <br />Our specifications for this lawnmower noted that this was an <br />urgent requirement and that delivery time was important. The <br />bidder of the higher priced lawnmower has a five day delivery <br />time versus a 30 day delivery time for the lower bid. In <br />addition, our shop personnel have noted that parts for the <br />higher priced lawnmower (Toro) are available in Riverside <br />whereas parts for the lower priced lawnmower (Jacobsen) must <br />be ordered from Santa Fe Springs. <br />Due to the urgency for this lawnmower and, since parts can be <br />obtained locally, it is recommended that the additional $676.23 <br />be expended to purchase the Toro lawnmower. Funds are avail- <br />able in the budget. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that bid award be made to <br />Pacific Equipment for the Toro Lawnmower in the amount of <br />$7,732.70. <br />Report prepared by K.L.
