CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For Council Meeting of June 21, 1988 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />�r <br />FROM: Rich Holmer, Human Services Director, <br />APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF COLTON <br />SUBJECT:_ AND THE COUNTY OF SAN BERNARDINO FOR THE Date: 6/13/88 <br />HUMAM SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO OPERATE A SUMMER <br />YOUTH; EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING PROGRAM (SYETP) <br />Each year the County of San Bernardino Department of Job Training <br />and Employment Resources through Title II-B of the Job Training <br />Partnership Act (DTPA) of 1982 contracts with a variety of <br />public, and non-profit organizations to operate Summer Youth <br />Employment and Training Programs (SYETP). The programs primary <br />objective is to provide work experience for economically dis- <br />advantaged youth. <br />The City of Colton's Human Services Department submitted a <br />proposal to the County to operate a SYETP program for Colton <br />area youth during the 1988 contract year. The County selected <br />the City as a program operator and allocated $85,000 to fund <br />this service. <br />The City of Colton, through this allocation, will offera <br />comprehensive Summer Youth Employment and Training Program <br />(SYETP) for '75 economically disadvantaged Colton area youth. <br />The program plans to serve both in-school and out-of-school <br />youth from the ages of 14 to 21. The program will include <br />assessment, work experience, remediation, and other vocational <br />activities to prepare this communities young people for the <br />world of work. <br />The City Attorney has reviewed and approved the contract as <br />to content. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that the Colton-City Council enter into an <br />agreement between the City and the County of San Bernardino <br />for the purpose of operating a Summer Youth Employment and <br />Training Program (SYETP) and authorize the Mayor and City <br />Clerk to execute said agreement. <br />CITY MANAGER'S CONCURRENCE: <br />r <br />Attachments: Co. of San Bernardino <br />Agreement Signature Sheet <br />Page 1 of 1 Item No. '�' <br />
