CITY OF COLTON i <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For Council Meeting.of January 3., 1989 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: Rich Holmer, Human Services Director,, <br />Award of Contract for Architectural Design Date: 12/21/88 <br />SUBJECT: Services for the Renovation and Construction <br />of an Expansion to Lawrence Hutton and Peter <br />im nit-. rnmmuni ty Centpra <br />On November 9, 1988 a panel comprised of Ken Peterson, General <br />Services Manager, John, Hutton, Public Works Director, Ramon Hernandez <br />Parks and Recreation Commissioner, Ray Gonzales, Recreation Services <br />Manager, and David Davis, City Librarian, interviewed five pro- <br />ponents for the Hutton/Luque Center renovation and expansion <br />project. The proposal requested that the successful bidder provide <br />design development, working drawings, specifications and con- <br />struction <br />onstruct on administration for an approximate 4450 square foot <br />addition and remodeling of the Lawrence Hutton Center and' an <br />approximate 3000 square foot addition and remodeling of the Peter <br />Luque Center. Staff estimates the total construction cost to <br />be approximately $900,000. <br />Gary Miller, Architect and Associates has proposed a fee not <br />`o exceed $46,826 to perform the described work (see attached <br />bid analysis-). Mr. Miller's firm has considerable experience <br />:n the field of architecture and construction with background <br />in land planning, building restoration, design, construction <br />document preparation, and construction administration. The panel <br />was impressed with.Mr. Miller's qualifications, bid package, <br />and experience in successfully handling similar projects. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Based on the aforementioned factors it is staff recommendation, <br />in concert with the panels evaluation, that the award of contract <br />for architectural design services for the renovation and construc- <br />tion of an expansion to the Hutton and Luque Centers be to Gary <br />W.
