CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For Council Meeting of—January 3, 1989 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: Leslie A. Keane, Assistant City Manager <br />SUBJECT:Award. of Bid for Fire Station #4 to Martin Date: December 28, 19.8E <br />J. Jaska, Inc:., in the Amount of $638,935. <br />On November 24, 1988, the City of Colton advertised for bids for <br />a new fire station (Fire Station #4) that will be located on <br />Meadow Lane, just North of Washington Street. <br />1r <br />Bids on this project were opened`at 2:00 P.M., December 20, 19881 <br />in the City Council, Chambers. Seven bids were received and a <br />Bid Analysis isattached for Council's information. As noted on <br />the; Bid Analysis, Item #1 was a base bid; with Item's 2 and 3 as <br />alternate bads Staff is recommending the base bid plus the <br />{ alternates for a total amount of $638,935. The construction <br />should take approximately eight months and the station should <br />be operational in October 1989_ <br />As Council is aware, the construction of this facility is being <br />funded by the Redevelopment Agency. The amount of $523,000 is <br />currently available for this pro 'ect . The total <br />J project, con- <br />struction and project management, is anticipated to cost $749,6.84. <br />Staff is requesting that the Agency increase its project budget <br />by the necessary $226,684. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council award a <br />contract for the construction. of Fire. Stat-ion4 in <br /># .the amount <br />of $638,935 to Martin J. Jaska, Inc. This award is <br />contingent <br />onthe Redevelopment: Agency's s approval of-additional <br />funds. <br />Report prepared by K.L.
