It was first moved to
the present location of the new Fire Station Number 4. To construct
Fire Station Number 4, the house was moved to its current location;
a triangle formed by the intersections of Barton Road, Washington
Street, and Walin Street.
General SeFvices was instructed to advertise for competitive bids
in an eff-6rt to sell the Cooley House. Advertising took place on
July 26, 1990 and bid opening was set for 2:00 P. M., August 6, 1990.
In addition to advertising,.there were six bid packages prepared
and mailed to people who had expressed an interest in purchasing
the house. There was only one bid received on the rouse and it
was in the amount of $3,000.00.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM: The property on which the house sits has
a deed restriction which required that the property to be used to
build a fire station. This being the case, the house needed to be
moved once more or sold.
ALTERNATIVES: None.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funds in the amount of $300.00 per month are
being expended for the foundation material the house is sitting
on.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council award the
sale of the Cooley House to John Kasperowicz, the one bidder, for
the amount of $3,000.00.
Report prepared by: K.
