CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For Council Meeting of August 21, 1990 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: EDMUND SOTELO, CITY MANAGER <br />SUBJECT: ADOPT NEW JOB DESCRIPTION FOR Date: 8-15-90 <br />LIBRARY CLERK I AND II <br />The Library currently has the positions Library Assistant I and II <br />and Library Clerk. The City contracted with Personnel Associates <br />last year for job description updates for a number of positions. The <br />position of Library Clerk was evaluated in the audit. As a result of <br />the audit, it was recommended that the City establish entry level and <br />journey level Library Clerk positions. <br />STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM <br />The San Bernardino Public Employees Association and Ramona De La. <br />Rosa, Library Clerk have requested that the recommendation made by <br />Personnel Associates be implemented. Establishing the series <br />classifications of Library Clerk I and II allows the flexibility for <br />recruitment at either entry or journey level depending on the <br />departmental needs. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />Council may approve or not approve staff's recommendation. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />The incumbent Library Clerks would be retitled to Library Clerk II at <br />their present salary range 1.0 (1246 - 1515). The Library Clerk I is <br />recommended at salary range .5 (1133 - 1377) in the General Unit. <br />This is approximately 10% below the Library Clerk II.
