LAVIN, WATER UTILITIES MAANGER�/J� <br />SUBJECT: WELL #17 <br />F <br />oto. <br />`��arroyr�o <br />ldd? 1 <br />4' <br />O VL <br />Well #17 began experiencing a loud noise problem last summer, but because of the <br />water shortage I did not take this well out of service. This well serves the west <br />end of town with another well. <br />I had to take the well out -of -service this week due to the excessive noise and the <br />complaints from the citizens who live near the well. The cost for pulling the <br />well was $1,600 and after speaking with Tri -County the cost for repairing the <br />well will exceed $5,000. <br />Since this well is one of two that serves the west end, it is crucial that this <br />well be put back into services as soon as possible so the area does not experience <br />a water shortage. <br />Tri -County has requested a copy of the purchase order to SOC.AL Pump, who did work <br />on the well in 1989 and were notified by Terry Lyons that the well was not working <br />correctly. Tri -County will determine if the work they performed was shoddy. If <br />this is the case, the matter will be turned over to the City Attorney for action. <br />I would like to request that the City Manager approve the work to be done since the <br />amount will exceed $5,000. I will then ask for Council concurrence at the December <br />18 meeting. <br />Please let me know if you concur with the above. <br />
