Aguilera, Director of Community Development SUBJECT: Review of the Courtyard Shopping Center. Date: Feb. 15,1990 Uniform Sign Program BACKGROUND As the Council will recall, Staff was requested to review the sign criteria for the Courtyard Shopping Center with the Council at this meeting.- As explained previously in the Staff Report regarding Round Table Pizza (attached), the sign criteria was established and agreed upon by the shopping center developer. :;,a sign pro9cam is summarized in the attached chart. The major points of the sign criteria are that two colors (red and blue) are to be used as sign colors and two other colors (black and white) may be used as accent colors. The other major criteria is that logos are allowed if they are kept to the same color scheme. This criteria has resulted in a uniform, pleasant, good—looking array of signs which do not detract from the beautiful buildings. During the Planning Commission meeting of 13 reoruary 199u, Statf intormed the Commission or zne concerns voiced by the Council regarding the sign criteria. Since the Planning Commission was initially involved in the creation of this sign. program, they requested that the Council allow them to review the Courtyard Shopping Center Sign Criteria so that they may make a recommendation to the Council.
