Sotelo, City Manager <br />SUBJECT: Date: October 10, 1990 <br />Award of Bid for a Two Year Landscape <br />Maintenance Contract to Cherokee Landscape <br />Service in the Amo��nt �f 5�9R . ��(1 _(1!� <br />BACKGROUIVD <br />Our current contract for Landscape Maintenance will expire on <br />October 31, 1990. On September 13 and September 21, Gener.al <br />Services advertised for sealed bids for this requirement. A <br />pre-bid conference was held on September 24, 1990. <br />Bid opening was held at 2:30 P.M., October 3, 1990, in the Council <br />Chambers. Three bids were received and evaluated. A Bid Analysis <br />is attached for your review with the recommended vendor's price <br />underlined. <br />STATEMENT QF THE PROBLEM <br />None <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />None <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />The contract is for a 24 month period. The cost to the City for <br />the first year is $149,000.00. The cost will vary as additional <br />areas are added when they are completed. Funds are available. <br />EIVVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />The City does not have sufficient staff to maintain these areas <br />of the district. If a contract is not awarded the medians and <br />parkways would become unsightly and the parks would become unusable <br />to the Citizens of Colton. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends bid award to Cherokee Landscape in the amount <br />of $298,000.00. <br />Report Prepared By: Mary J.
