CITY OF COLTON <br />INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM <br />TO: EDMUND SOTELO, CITY MANAGER DATE: eSEPT,BER 13, 1990 <br />FROM: PAUL J. CONNOLLY, CHIEF OF POLICE <br />SUBJECT: IMPENDING COUNTY BILL <br />I recently became aware of the passage of Senate Bill 2557 which <br />became law on August 1, 1990, in which the counties may charge cities <br />for booking costs. This year we are already looking at escalating <br />costs on drawing and processing blood and other fluids in addition to <br />sex kits and their analysis and the costs of the examination for <br />abused children. <br />I have been informed that the county intends to charge the cities <br />$125.00 for booking prisoners - at the rate of our bookings (and we <br />release the majority of our prisoners.prior to booking) I estimate <br />that these costs could sum to $500,000.00 per year.
