CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT For Council Meeting of September 18, 1990 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council FROM: EDMUND F. SOTELO, City Manager_4L; SUBJECT: City Council Approval of Change Orders Date: September 11, 199 #7 & #8 for Hutton/Luque Community Centers Expansion Project. BACKGROUND CHANGE ORDER #7: Hutton Community Center - On the masonry gable ends of the new addi- tion, required metal flashing would not have allowed proper bonding of the masonry cap to the structure. Galvanized metal lathing was required to insure structural integrity of the gable end components. Luque Community Center - The original flat roof design and drainage system on that portion immediately adjacent to the existing East parapet wall and to the new addition will not drain with the additions construction. These design problems were not located until interior demolition work exposed the drainage system. To resolve the problem, a cricker was fabricated on the existing flat portion of the roof and additional drains and scuppers designed to eliminate the problem. Hutton and Luque Community Centers - Extension of the time required due to the additional work. CHANGE ORDER #8: This Change Order represents the resolution of the project's out- standing issues to date in regards to the contractor's requests for additional work change orders and the City's requests for credits back to the contract. In brief description: A. Framing Extras: 1. Clip hall wall and drop for fire envelope. (Luque Center) Due to fire envelope requirements for corridor protection, the original design had to be adjusted to take into account H.V.A.C. equipment abutting the corridor in the attic.
