Perform related <br />duties as assigned. <br />QUALIFICATIONS <br />KNOWLEDGE OF• <br />Investigative principles and practices. Regulations and <br />requirements of court evidence. Basic principles, practices and <br />techniques of building and safety inspection. Principles and <br />procedures of record keeping and reporting. Safe and efficient <br />work practices as they relate to ordinance enforcement. <br />Ability to: <br />Learn and enforce City codes, ordinances, laws and regulations <br />pertaining to building, zoning, nuisance, health, safety and <br />welfare with impartiality and efficiency. Lean principles, <br />practices, methods and techniques of ordinance enforcement. <br />Learn general City services and the municipal organizational <br />structure as they relate to ordinance enforcement. Learn the <br />geography of the City. Understand legal descriptions and <br />boundary maps of real property. Respond to inquiries, complaints <br />and requests for service in a fair, tactful and firm manner. <br />Analyze and compile technical information on ordinance <br />investigations and violations. Apply investigative techniques <br />useful in insuring compliance with appropriate codes and <br />ordinances. Maintain and update records, logs and reports. <br />Prepare cases for prosecution or council action and testify in <br />court. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in <br />writing. Establish and maintain cooperative working <br />relationships with those contacted in the course of work. <br />EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br />Any combination of experience and training that would likely <br />provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A <br />typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: <br />Experience <br />Some inspection and public contact experience is highly <br />desirable. <br />Training <br />Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by <br />coursework in psychology, sociology, law enforcement or a related <br />subject. Completion of a 24 hour P.O.S.T. module, P.C. 832, <br />Arrest, Search and Seizure. <br />License or Certificate <br />Possession of valid California driver's license. <br />
