Hutton, Director of Public Worksj <br />✓ Date: January 28, 1991 <br />SUBJECT: Approval of Recommendation from the Traffic <br />Committee Setting Traffic Impact Fees for the <br />City of Colton <br />RAC MR" IM <br />The City of Colton has, in the past, collected traffic impact fees for project areas <br />such as the Cooley Ranch, but did not have bees established for other areas, <br />particularly the older established areas of the City. <br />STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM: <br />Since the older established portions of the community did not have traffic impact <br />studies to establish fees there is no means to collect traffic fees for projects that <br />necessitated upgrades for existing traffic signals or installation of new ones. <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />As part of the General Plan's traffic circulation update, the consultant was directed <br />to identify all traffic related needs for the entire community. Thus enabling the <br />establishment of City wide fees for all traffic related improvement needs. Attached <br />is a fee schedule. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />These fees collected from development will provide a funding source to renovate, upgrade <br />and construct new signals, as needed. <br />ENV I RONN ENTAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />RECONIMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Council approve the attached schedule of traffic fees. <br />JCH/ 1 j <br />CITY MANAGER'S CONCURRENCE: <br />Attachments: 1 <br />Page t of <br />(,,-.i5u i AL RECORDS <br />Item No. =a <br />
