SOTELO, CITY MANAGER <br />SUBJECT: Date <br />ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION APPROVING INDUSTRIAL 01-24-91 <br />RETIREMENT OF POLICE OFFICER PAUL MANNING <br />BACKGROUND: Police Officer Paul Manning has been off work on an <br />industrial injury since September 18, 1989. He has been determined <br />permanent and stationary by Workers Compensation doctors. The case <br />has been settled. <br />STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM: The Workers Compensation doctors have <br />determined that Paul Manning is unable to perform the duties of a <br />Police Officer. Officer Manning has applied for disability <br />retirement with the Public Employees' Retirement System. Before <br />the Retirement System can act on any local safety members' <br />application for disability retirement a Resolution must be adopted <br />by Council. <br />ALTERNATIVES: None <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funded with the Public Employees' Retirement <br />System. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None <br />RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends adoption of the attached <br />Resolution approving the disability retirement of Police Officer <br />Paul Manning. <br />Report prepared by: Sandra Knight, Human Resources Manager <br />Attachments: Resolution <br />Page 1 of — ;'°D liem No. o� <br />
